A hour of circuits tonight, lots of the usual but with dumbbells on pretty much every exercise! Also had a bench press in the circuit tonight, only 7.5kg but not bad to say that I did 50 reps and that is the max weight bar that we have available so couldn't do any more. Getting desperate to lift heavy again, only missed sessions due to time/travel constraints but on the plus side it has done my back a favour.

Quick gym session tonight.

Squats - first time since I hurt my back so being cautious
30 x 10
60 x 5, x 5, x 5

Deadlifts
70 x 5
90 x 3
120 x 1
130 f

Some kind of straight single arm pulls 7kg 10 x 3 on each arm.

Can I offer some advice? Feel free to ignore it, but I think it's worth saying. I reckon you'd be better off working with say 5's or 3's until you've got a bunch of heavy reps under your belt, and your technique is solid, and stays solid under load. Then bring in singles, but avoid 1RMs until you've got a fighting chance of keeping the tech. good, and can judge what's acceptable slippage, and when you want to risk it.

Turned into a bit of an essay that, but seriously. You're very strong, but you shouldn't be getting injured this soon. Slow and steady, and all that.

Thanks for advice. To be fair I don't always train until failure. I think that my back only got hurt with squatting because I was wearing totally different shoes and just tried to squat like usual which clearly didn't work. I've been very careful and gone back pretty slow. Not had any pain for a fair while now and nothing while training tonight or afterwards. I'm keeping a very close eye on it and I'm pretty sure my coach will be as well. Will get him to check over my tech this weekend though to make sure there's no chance of doing any damage.

Hope the back is ok. What shoes do you normally wear for squatting? Great deadlift vid too.

Back seems to be fine now but still going to take it steady. The shoes that I usually wear are nothing special just a pair of really old really flat soled trainers - I learned to squat in them so stuck with them. Unfortunately they got left behind at someone else's house after an unexpected post gym dog walking session so I am now forced to use my netball trainers which are a lot spongier at the heel which forces me onto my toes more than the old flat ones. Might be able to retrieve the old ones this weekend with any luck!

Your routine is very complicated but I'll give it a go and I can call round and get my trainers so don't worry about it - my fault for leaving them in the first place! Just back home from an hour of netball got tripped up by an over eager defender so looking forward to the bruises.
