Missed a much needed heavy bench session last Monday. Was whacking a hole in a brick wall and the lump hammer skidded off the cold chisel and I caught it on the back of my hand.... that f***g hurt... Left hand, so all toilet viits no problem Wink Although I was unable to hold a bar with any significant weight on it Monday,I got through the following bench work today.
50X8
70X2X2...testing things here..hurt a bit but better than before.
80x3x3x3x3x3x4 ..first rep of each set paused..then exploding(well sort of) with the rest.....compromised today I could not go for a heavy session and didnt feel a speed session would be of much use under the circumstances...So did the 80s as fast as possible.
Final workout on Monday..which better not be too heavy with the BDFPA West Midlands Qualifier the following Sat.
I was a bit down before todays training but although in terms of weight/volume it was really a pissy affair it has restored my confidence as I thought I mighthave to withdraw from the comp...and loose my entrance fee!!Angry

Hope your well? Are you planning on lifting up in Bradford for BDFPA single lift finals? Was thinking of doing that myself (still and outside chance) but have other fish to fry later on in sept.

Glad someone does. I'm amazed the Americans over on Powerlifting Watch can all see through it, but over here we've got BWLA lifters supporting it. A strange world we live in. Or maybe it's just me...

Ah the ups and downs of this lifting game...My last session before the competition in Birmingham and following a not too good spell due to missed training... But it went and felt much better today.
BENCH Pre comp session
50x8
70x2
80x2
85x1 the qualifier and my opener( long pause)
90x1 pause
82.5 x4x4x3 think I could have got 4 but left it at that
70x7
50x8
Thats it now till Saturday...I am going to travel there and back on the same day for this particular event so I will be up at 4.30am to get ready and drive up for the 9am weigh in.Unhappy

Well I got my qualifier in with first lift and John Stokes said he had some small plates and would I like to have a go at the national record. So I said no mate s**t or bust raise it 5 to 90kgs(more below)
Failed first effort ....spotters and me not working together ...second effort better,..one of the experienced benchers centre spotted me and I got it up but in an uneven fashion.
Still pissed at myself though I cant seem to get it right on the day.Warm up area was a bit chaotic with a M6,M7, and a young lad all warming up together with the 170/200 guys.Everbody was brilliant and helpful but it was a long time before lifts to prepare...plus an extra work out moving the plates!!
Was up at 4 am and didnt sleep much before that.. plus 3 hour plus drive.
Still irritated I took my brand new digital scales and calculater with me and checked my home bar and weights. The weights came out ok...but the bar weighed in at 17.4 (TRIPLE CHECKED)...
f***g gutted. So all my numbers have been out by 2.5 approx... gutted.... I weighed the bar last with my old spring type scales when I bought the weight set on e-bay...So my efforts on the second and third lifts were near my pb which is all I can take from this....Oh did I mention I am guttedUnhappy Angry

Thanks guys ...but that lousey 2.5kgs still rankles me...f***g bag o s**te Last time I felt like this was when I lost my wallet with credit cards, licence, and twenty odd quid in it.
Iwant to say now what a great bunch of guys were in attendance at this Midlands event with I believe three bench records going.I asked to leave early due to the long day I had ..and the long drive home ahead so dont know how the deadlifting went

One 1.5 plate each end of bar to make it up to 20kgs.These small plates will remain on the bar as a permament thing untill I come up with something else.So after my recent reality check, these weights are about as accurate as I can make them
50X8
70X2
85XI ..pause
87.5x1..pause...my old 90
90x1..pause...the proper 90
82.5..x3x3x3
72.5x5x5x5
Getting the true 90kg was good for me. This session was about recovery and getting over the weekend collection of disappointments ...Moving on.
