Two main reasons why people don't get on with bands - too much weight on the bar (and therefore too hard); and/or the wrong band position for the lifter's natural line. Sort that out, add five sets in at the end of each workout, and Bob's your uncle - unless it's Auntie Roberta.

I began my last training entry by saying it was a quick session as I had some stuff going on.
Its still going on and will do for about another two weeks.Away for pretty much all the time doing family support ..mum in hospital...dad self employed...me and the wife helping out with the kids.My wife is loving it but me and the dog are not happy being out of our usual routine.
So sent home to check on the mail etc I managed to get a swift bench session in...just to keep up a bit and to make it less of a struggle on the come back.....bugger because it was going well up to this slight set back.
50X8
70X2
80X1
90X1
85X3X3X3
82.5X3
80x3x3
Thats it...gotta go...get in the car and help wipe some small peoples noses.Plus the wife reckons "It wont hurt to straighten the garden while were here"..Be back when I am able

Just back to keep my log alive.Helping out with family commitments has been a bugger...but very rewarding.. and will be sorted soon.It was my birthday today(69) and although my training has been very patchy I made up my mind to get in a big bench single today.I needed something to reassure myself I had at least a qualifier left in me to get to the nationals in Bradford.
Warm up...50x8 60x3 70x2
Strutting and posturing
85X1 M6 qualifier I knew I SHOULD get this...gutted if I didnt
More strutting and talking to myself...(Im on my own here)
90x1 Went well with a pause
Added bad language to the pre- lift mix
95x1 Equal pb touch and go
I have really gained from this session as my confidence was down due to the on and off training since last I posted.Had I had a spotter I would have gone for another 2.5ks but maybe thats comming a bit later when I am able to maintain a regular routine.
Best wishes to all the guys who did so well in recent events around the country.I was aware of these fine results but was not always able to access a computer.Back when I can.

Back again! Family stuff sorted and daughter in law back to work Mon after illness.
Me and Beamer(dog)just returned from a serious rabbiting expedition in the old haunts.Good to be back in the routine again.
Training has been patchy although I believe I have kept in reasonable shape... press ups dips etc.
BDFPA held no single lift qualifier and I was not permitted to enter the full power meeting earlier in the year...sooo gotta travel......I have 19 days to prepare for the West Midlands Single Lift Championships at Birmingham/My other choices were Cornwall in 12 days (to soon) Bradfod a week after Birmingham (to far)
Not used weights for a couple of weeks...Immediate target is to qualify in Brummie and train like f**k
after so I cant risk injury now by going at it too hard after the lay off
BENCH Press ups
50x8
60x8
70x2
80x5x5x5 (had five sets in mind at the beginning)
60x8
3x face pulls
Think my bod said WTF as these pathetic lifts came hard.Last session on the 11th I equalled my pb.Still I would have thought there is a qualifier in there though. Its bloody hard comming back and struggling with weights you pissed up before.I recon about three more sessions left before the event
Aiming for 85 kgs Raw @82.5 M6

"family support ..mum in hospital...dad self employed...me and the wife helping out with the kids"

Just this line that threw meConfused How old is your dad and what does he do self employed?

Or am I just reading it all wrong?
