BJJ warm up, drilled side control escape. sparring with a 75-80kg blue belt. draw (although I had all the control he took my back but I reversed to half gaurd).

As ive only been there for a few weeks, I am already referred to as a Brock Lesnar looklike. haha. made me laugh.

I've started doing barbell hip thrusts. I think they will help with escapes from the bottom position in BJJ/MMA.

Thanks mate quite surprised, with the pb as I haven't lifted for a bit. I feel a different kind of strength at the moment from the grappling. Must be all the 5min rounds. I have been named Brock now in class which I think is a compliment.

Hip thrusts sound cool, it's all in the hips they say, for bridging etc it's so much more interesting that my normal cardio sessions

Mate, i'm doing similar to you.
2 weight sessions a week
3-4 Muay Thai
1 Mixfight (MMA)
I would like to do more grappling, but i'm concentrating on the stand up for now. Not that I will ever use it, just doing it for fun and enjoy it.

It's funny, a mate of mine came with me Friday night, who trains mma 3times a week and he was saying the sparring is so full on somtimes he says he just gets used as a punch bag for the whole time its so full on, I could train 4 or 5 times a week bjj but 4or 5 times mma I think my body would just give up,from the punishment it's so hard core. Grin I know from experience Thai is not at far off. It's all about training smart now, resting more and making sure the body recovers.

Yer, I ache allover after MMA. Never done much specific BJJ if i'm honest, more submission grappling, but would love to.

You should try it, even it's it's only once,.

Over here so many guys just want to jump into the cage with a basic ground game, watching some of the purple and brown belts wow serious s**t.

I've done it a few times. Here, Sambo is the big thing and there are few BJJ schools around.
Getting beat by smaller guys is very humbling. I have found this out. Strength is an advantage, but technique is king.

Couldn't agree more, I try now to use my, only my weight for control..........

Over here sambo classes are few and far between, I do think strongman training and grappling complement each other.
