yorkshires strongest big handed 105kg Member 1901, 161 posts | Always been the average Joe. Always played sports but was never the best at anything. Played basketball, rugby, and done some long distance running. I started at the gym in 2004 after seeing a disappointing 9 1/2 stones this made me determined to make a change. To make sure i did it right and to the best of my ability I started a course in personal training. In 2004 I qualified as a personal trainer and I noticed the difference in myself and the scale crept up to 16 stone ( my personal best). After achieving so much I wanted to do something more a new challenge. I contemplated on the idea of putting myself forward for the Yorkshires Strongest Man competition in my mind over and over. In early October James ward and Matt fox gave me the push I needed and up I was in line for the yorkshires strongest man 2011 u105 novice . Although I was dedicated to training and keeping fit the competition events were a complete different ball game but I remained focussed not to win but to make sure I didn't come last. Working from scratch I targetted towards the competition in November leaving seven months to build myself to be in a position to set the candidates a competition. Went on to win the competition, with the thanks of Matt Fox for showing me the ropes, James Ward and Oli Tombs for the tips and corrections, Travis Fandango and Ed Clarke for the advice, and for all the support and encouragement from everyone including friend and family. Weighed myself today 90kg on the dot

I'm no Wilson Kipketa, but I seem to remember a certain someone in preparation for York's throwing up on the 4th of what was meant to be 10 alternating sled pulls, I on the other hand soldiered through all 10 (like a soldier). Boar, the weight Naz puts down is always "without hands", he rests them on two side tables when he weighs in, 90kg actually equates to 120kg, or 90kgWH as it is officially written.
