I know that feeling of having a couple of weeks to go and you're maxing out. Maybe go lifting specific for a couple of weeks and like Reevesy said, practice those badass competition reps. I tend to get "ill" by being snotty and coughing loads but feeling fine, and lifting alright. Feel loads better for the extra rest this week too.Weds climbing, finally made it up the big overhang leading. 6a, although cheated a fair bit; next week will try it clean. Thursday was in Oban Friday was scorching, walked a few miles, every warmup felt heavy but I got Squat 87.5 x6 Form feels loads better, although my hips are stiff today. Now knee-breaking, so need to put a bit more hip into it, but not fold like I was doing. Bench (used wide bench in rack so had safeties) 47.5 x5 Drive wasn't great but there was some. DL 102.5x5 Solid, and without back rounding. Best I've managed after heavy squats. Next weeks plan is to squat 90 for a rep max to gauge for the comp (100/102.5/105), pull heavy ditto, and get some paused bench practice. Hopeful for maybe 55 with adrenaline. Celebrated with some lager with the relatives. | ||

Had a 2-hour-flu this morning, very weird; shivering, feverish, really sensitive skin, headache and nausea, nearly fell asleep on my desk, but literally gone by lunch time. I say again, very weird. Squat 90x3, 1 3rd was a little high, single lost my upper back and nearly lost it overhead. Hoped for another rep or two, but happy enough. Notebook has 80x3 on Feb 28th giving 92.5 hard on March 19th. So hopeful for 102.5, esp if today was an off day. Backoff 60x5 thinking on form. Bench (took advice for once and worked paused singles) 40x3, 45x3 (paused), 47.5x1, 50x1 47.5x4x1 All pretty good, felt reasonably tight in pauses, although I was cueing myself. Using the s**tty narrow Stevie bench too. Mega pleased with the 50; just beginning to bridge but one cheek stayed down. Chins on rack (narrow 45degree grip, shoulders to bar) 6,5,5,4 | ||

Planning a climbing trip to Ratho this weekend for some real leads. Something about the long leads feels very different, much more zen. Had 4 2-hour waves of fever over Mon and Tues, and Weds got a sore throat and a weird rash, so had to give climbing a miss. Bunch of crud with flat move today, pissed about all the hassle and relieved to be done, so great workout, though. DL 80x3, 90x1 DOH, no belt Belt on 100x3, 110x3, 115x3 5kg PR, and way better than my prev 110x3. Nose tork. Inspired by some pulls I've watched, and Monday's thoughts while coaching, tried different setup. Set back while mostly standing, solid breath, and squeezed down into position then grabbed bar to stay there, instead of grabbing straight leg-round back. Means letting go between reps because I can't breathe when set, but felt nicer. Couple light paused benches for some form. | ||

Wiegie it's either tough or too stupid to know when to give it a rest. Nice game of 5-aside today, then a few push presses 30x3, 35x2, 40x1 nice and fast. Failed 45 by smacking myself under the chin and biting my tongue, then proceeded to fail 42.5, 40 twice and finally 35. Chins 5,4,2 | ||
