I'm still a little lost, but I'll put it down to you spending too much time stood on your head Grin

Humour/Mild pisstake I guess is down to the individual, when you have to explain it it gets lost.

Hopefully Paul will enjoy.

I never saw the Inbetweeners so the reference is unfortunately lost on me.

Had a serious case of the 'can't be arsed-sies' today. Another solo session, and even after a day off, I just couldn't be bothered.

So did a couple or three thousand metres of warmups and aborted working sets on the C2 and went inside to get a beer.

I'll come back to it tomorrow.

Some more f*cking about on the C2 this morning.

Went for a max effort 500m, and somehow managed to talk myself out of completing it with just 100m to go. I was fading spectacularly, but the pain was huge and all I could see was the numbers toppling. In my oxygen-deprived state, I somehow convinced myself to stop when I was still on for a 2 second PB.

From memory, I think my splits were:

15:4
15.1
15.6
16.2 and then burned out.

In retrospect, I wish I'd continued. No idea why I didn't. I just need to HTFU (harden the f**k up).

We went 15 years without a TV. Only got one again at the start of the lockdown for the kids.

We still watched plenty of TV streamed and downloaded, but that must have passed up by.

To take a positive from the failed 500m attempt earlier, I've sorted my form out so that I don't fall off the machine, and my low pull was down to 1:14. I feel that I might be able to get under 15 seconds on my 100m now. Maybe.

Anyway, weights training this evening. My brother was going heavy on push press, so I did too.

Push press:

2x15x20kg (first strict, second push)
8x40kg
5x60kg
1x70kg
1x75kg
2x80kg - lockout was a bit wobbly so did a second rep
1x85kg
1x90kg
1x95kg - this was push press, rather than jerked, which is the heaviest I've push pressed this year. It's a bit more comfortable on my knees.
5x6x60kg - strict

1 arm tricep extension:

3x12x12.5kg each arm.

I've managed to cajole my brother into joining me on more of the rowing, so it should be more regular. Only short distances when training with him though, so that we can take turns, but I'm looking forward to it. He'd be a good rower if he put his mind to it. A lean 95kg, 6ft 2", push pressed 90kg and deadlifted 220kg today.

Couple of quite fast 5000m rows today. It did start off as a 10k, but I got halfway through and decided to take a 5 minute break. I held the pace that I wanted to get me a sub 35:30 10k, but with a break in the middle.

C2:

5000m - 17:45 1:46.5/500m 26 SPM

5 minute break

5000m - 17:40.8 1:46/500m 27 SPM

Very consistent pace throughout and the only difference between the two was that I was 0.1 second slower on my 500m pace through the second 5k, but I sprinted at the end to make up for it.

The humidity in the gym is pretty bad at the moment. The roof leaked a bit, so the landlord instructed some cowboy builders to try to repair it. It's now considerably worse, so it can get humid in there. I'm lining the underside of the roof with pond liner this week, which ought to help. I don't deal with heat/humidity well. 4c is about the perfect training temperature for me.

Sounds horrific Tongue just keep going next time, it will end eventually!

Thanks Paul.

I think 5k is probably my most comfortable distance. I find I can hold a fairly decent pace like 1:40-1:45 for a long time without withering too much. Much faster than that and I start to question my own sanity for engaging in rowing in the first place!

I'd like to see your HR on a set like that, you need a monitor Tongue All the longer work I do I cap at 22 S/M which does make the row slower paced, but anything approaching 1:45 I have to work hard on. Oh, and I regularly question my sanity on the C2!

A 10k sub7 now that would be tasty.

Can you recommend a good monitor that'll link up to the PM5?

JT - that's the plan. I really would like a sub 35 minute 10k
