60 x 3
70 x 3
75 x 2
80 x 2
85 x 2
87.5 x 2
90 x 2,2,2 (recent volume PB,whatever that means)

Power Clean:
60 x 2
80 x 2
90 x 2
95 x 2
97.5 x 2
100 x 2
102.5 x 2
105 x 2, 2 (I think I am awful at power cleans)

Snatch-Grip Deads from Deficit, paused at knee
120 x 2
140 x 2
160 x2
180 x 2 (recent PB I think)

Clean Deads
160 x 2
180 x 2
205 x 2 (was smashed by this time)

Halted Pulls (5 count at knee), paused at full extension
95 x 3,3

I work at Sheffield Hallam Uni mate (for my sins! lol!). Its weird, I think I am used to deadlifting with my shoes on and over the bar, so it seems normal now I think. I tend to do them last so I am smashed by the time I do them though.

I've wondered if I could pull something decent if I did them fresh and with just some deadlift slippers on.

Oh and cheers, the numbers are starting to climb now, thankfully.

Wednesday: did a bunch of remedial stuff, probably not really worth reporting.

Thursday am (stoopid early, could not wake up nor move fast!)

Cleans:
60 x 3
80 x 2
90 x 2
100 x 2,2
110 x 2
112.5 x 2
115 x miss, 1,1 (break in between reps was too long for it to be a double really)

Squats:
60 x 5
90 x 5
115 x 5
120 x 10, 10

Strict Press, Paused
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 3
75 x 4 (missed 5th, wasnt heavy just completely lost my groove and couldn't rescue it)
70 x 5, 5

GHR:
BW x 15 x 4

Hypers:
BW x 25 x 4

Lying Face Pulls:
? x 20 x 3

Then showed some people a bunch of awful (but good) stretches and somehow got talked into running a class!

Weird session. Everything felt manageable enough but I'm not used to training really early and my body just wasn't awake as I was lifting. Typically, as I was doing the light stuff at the end, I suddenly woke up and felt amazing. Was a bit off with cleans and I got stapled and caught no bounce a couple of times, but was able to stand no problem. Luckily though, on my last rep of my last set I managed to figure out what i was doing wrong and correct it. I was letting my hips shoot just a tad off the floor and by keeping a more upright posture and consciously thinking about leading with my chest, when I caught the last rep it landed where it needed to be and was much, much better.

Good cleans there Dave, what was the gap in between the "double"?

Cheers Andy, they were OK and I think that if I did them at a different time or if I was used to training really early they would have gone a bit better. I see that you train at 6am sometimes, madness.

You know, I'm not sure really, it was enough time for me to catch my breath and know that I wouldn't miss the 2nd rep; I just sort of stood around and stared at the bar till I went again. Normally after I rep I have to push the plates back on and re-set which seems to time my reps, but today I didn't have to do it so there is the possibility that I didn't rest as much as I thought, it just felt like ages.

A double Grin

No more 6am sessions now but I did enjoy training at that time once I got used to it. At first it was tough.

Sorry for the lack of updates lads. I've been MIA for a bit. Well, I had another little surgery on my hand, which I really, really hope is the last one now and I haven't been training much over the past 6 weeks. Sounds daft, and you wouldn't think hand surgery would affect much but it was actually a bit rougher this time than the last and I was struggling a bit. Anyway, back to it this week. I started back training last week with some squats and got a bit carried away and ended up hitting some decent numbers, lol, but strained my lower back a bit in the process so easing in over the next two weeks.

I made a good bit of progress on my technique before I had my op (which is what I wanted to do), so I'm giving myself a couple of weeks to feel sharper and then plan to get some more intense work in.

today I did:

Paused Squats:
up to 140 x 2

Power Snatch:
40, 50 , 60 x 3
70 x 2
75 x 2
80 x 1
85 x miss x 2 (really close)
80 x 2 x 2

Clean and Jerk
60, 80 x 2
90 x 1
100 x 1
105 x 1 (hand a little sore in the receive, so backed off)

Power Clean and Jerk:
80 x 3
85 x 2
90 x 2

RDL standing on 25's
up to 120 x 8

Did some machine rows

Not too bad really. Fancied the 85 power snatch but I just couldn't get my feet to move out properly and caught them on bent arms. I actually caught my foot on the mat (platform has mats on them) twice. Did a couple of back offs on 80 and they weren't too bad. Clean and jerks were OK; rusty but jerk felt snappy. Squats I did light, I plan on a decent squat session on Thursday, so just focussed on full range and a long pause.

Nice to be back at it, hopefully get some decent numbers up soon if I stay injury/surgery free. Smashed now mind.
