The potential line up in the 90kg class is very exciting with the winner likely to be producing a total approaching 700kg .We are looking at ways of improving further the presentation of the event but good challenging competition between lifters is what it is really all about.
Many exciting new juniors will make the battle for best Junior lifter very tough.
Entries have already started coming in.Remember that entries close on February 28th.

Bournemouth Barbell have several 82.5kg class lifters competing.Although they do not even get close to the Macca squat/total (yet!) they look forward to pushing him on bench and deadlift(not that it matters).
They include:- Phil Ahlijah a ex army/Ghanaian 10.58sec 100m sprinter whose best is 205/150/240//595. James Leaver another ex athlete(2.12 high jump/7.47 long jump/15.62 triple jump)best 200/160/240//600kg,RussellJolley 200/122.5/242.5//565,
Rob Chaunt (bodybuilder,Personal Trainer)190/145/245//580,Adam Elkins(student,R.U.scrum half)200/125/235//560junior.
Macca has got to be front runner for best lifter overall as well and although he is the CLEAR favourite in the 82.5kg class this group will be full to the brim with many battling to get selected for the European Championships.

What is depressingly clear from those stats Paul is how relatively weak my bench is - Hey ho.

I am keen to enter as it may be my last raw comp' as an M2 lifter and I quite fancy going for an M2 record before I turn M3 later this year - The M2 British total (525) looks very achievable and on a good day the squat (210) and DL (250) are in range - The bench at 148 is way out of reach.

Its got to be the total that matters and you will be good for that.It amazes me that many athletes bench well but struggle a bit in comparison when squatting.
Sven Knipphalls (who trains with me) who goes 210/130/215//555kg in local comps.
and has achieved 10.34s 100m/20.93s 200m/at 85kg bodyweight. He hardly ever benches but struggles with squat and deadlift. However we must bare in mind that he hang cleans 155kg.
Maccas squat is the best at this bodyweight unaquipped without doubt.Would be good to see Rob Palmer,Tom Martin and Macca go head to head unequipped. Each havuing his own specialist lift.

Paul

I think Macca owns the 82.5's at the moment, so it looks like an interesting line up for 2nd and 3rd place. Maybe even a few people breaking 600kg total.

I think you are probably correct Alex.Selection for the England team will be very tight in the 82.5kg and the 90kg class.
Steve Tyers is looking to lift in the 67.5kg class (just)and will have a tough battle with Paul Richards who beat him last time out.
The 75kg class has many promising juniors who have made an impact this year already.
Important to remember that unequipped lifting means no :- bench shirts/squat suits/deadlift suits/knee wraps and supportive briefs!
Entries are arriving every day.Closing date-February 28th.

Regards,
Paul

Training and prepping a 67.5kg/75kg teen/junior lifter for this. He'll be giving those guys a run for their money by the time i've finished with him.

Best tell him to cut to 67.5, I hear there are some good 75's about Wink

I will be there competing raw this time as i did equipped at the Southern. As always Terry Minty will be there competing at 75 also. No doubt he will put up and good fight (well for squat and deadlift lol)

We have a few universtiy lifters in the 75's also, as well as Martin Smith (senior lifter working at Poole Hospital) looking to be close to a 550 total. I hear through the grape vine that he does 43 wide grip pull ups...least that's what a certain MC was saying at the divisionals lol

I have been talking with him about cutting down to 67.5kg, not to escape the competition, but he was 69kg yesterday so I don't think losing a couple kilos is out of the question. But then, competing in a competitve class is what every athlete wants right? I should think so anyway..

Im thinking about losing a couple kilo's and going down to 82's as thats where the action is at in the equipped division.
